Terms of Service

Effective 2026-11-02

The general service terms below remain a draft awaiting legal review. Manuscript publication and sale permission is set out in its separate section below.

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1 (Purpose)

These terms set out the conditions and procedures for using Story License Bank (the "Service"), operated by RepetoAI Co., Ltd. (the "Company"), and the rights, duties and responsibilities of members and the Company.

Article 2 (Definitions)

  1. A "member" is a person who agreed to these terms and created an account.
  2. A "manuscript" is writing a member uploaded to the Service, such as a memoir, an oral record or a novel, and its file.
  3. A "scene (episode)" is a unit the Company split from a manuscript and published on the Service, and a "book" is the product sold per manuscript that contains the scenes.
  4. A "paid member" is a user of the paid membership approved by the Company.
  5. A "copyright holder" is the person who holds the copyright of a manuscript: the member, or a person who entrusted the member with registering and selling it.

Article 3 (Effect and changes of the terms)

  1. These terms are posted on the Service and take effect when a member agrees to them at sign-up.
  2. The Company may change these terms within the limits of the law. Changed terms are announced on the Service from 7 days before they take effect (30 days for changes unfavourable to members).
  3. A member who does not object within the notice period is deemed to agree to the changed terms. A member who does not agree may leave the Service.
  4. Matters not covered here follow the relevant laws, such as the E-Commerce Act, the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions and the Copyright Act, and the separate notices set by the Company. Where a separate notice differs from these terms, the notice prevails.

Chapter 2. Members

Article 4 (Sign-up)

  1. Anyone aged 14 or older can sign up with a Google account. Children under 14 cannot sign up. After the first sign-in, you separately agree to the service terms and privacy policy and confirm your age.
  2. The Company may refuse a sign-up or cancel it afterwards when someone else's identity is used, false information is given, the person was restricted before, or the account may otherwise disrupt the Service.

Article 5 (Account management)

  1. Members are responsible for managing their Google account and service account. An account may not be lent or transferred to a third party.
  2. Members must tell the Company at once when they learn that their account was stolen. The Company is not responsible for losses caused by not telling it.
  3. When sign-up details change, members must update them in My account; members bear the losses caused by not doing so.

Article 6 (Duties of members)

Members must not:

  • upload a manuscript that infringes others' rights, such as copyright, portrait rights or reputation;
  • copy, distribute, transmit or adapt a purchased or read manuscript or scene beyond the permitted scope;
  • collect the content of the Service by automated means (crawling) or use it for AI training;
  • disrupt the operation of the Service or access its systems without permission;
  • resell or broker the Service for profit without the Company's prior approval.

Article 7 (Restriction of use)

  1. When a member breaches Article 6 or the law, the Company may warn, suspend temporarily or permanently, or terminate the contract. In urgent cases it acts without prior notice and informs the member afterwards.
  2. A suspended account cannot sign in. The member may raise an objection with the operations team.
  3. The Company is not liable for losses a member suffers from a restriction unless the Company acted intentionally or with gross negligence.

Article 8 (Leaving)

  1. Members can leave at any time from My account.
  2. When a member leaves, manuscript submissions waiting for acceptance and orders not yet confirmed as paid are cancelled and the cart is emptied. The right to read paid books ends when the member leaves, and leaving is not a reason for a refund.
  3. The permission for manuscripts already published or on sale (Chapter 4) and the settlement relationship continue after the member leaves. A member who wants publication stopped must ask the operations team separately before leaving.
  4. Transaction and rights records required by law are kept under the privacy policy.

Chapter 3. Service and payment

Article 9 (What the Service offers)

  1. Free members can search scenes, read titles, approved summaries and public excerpts, and upload manuscripts.
  2. Paid members can also read the full text of scenes, buy books, use the cart and use My library.
  3. Scenes published on the Service have had their source text and rights checked by a person. The Company does not, however, guarantee that the content of a manuscript is true or accurate.

Article 10 (Changes and suspension of the Service)

  1. The Company may change or stop parts of the Service for operational or technical reasons and announces important changes in advance.
  2. The Service may stop temporarily for maintenance, failures, natural disasters, network outages and similar reasons. The Company is not liable for resulting losses unless it acted intentionally or with gross negligence.
  3. If the Company closes the business, it announces this 30 days before and refunds paid members the fee for the remaining period.

Article 11 (Paid members)

  1. Members apply for the paid plan in My account, and the Company checks and approves it.
  2. The fee, payment methods, period and whether the plan renews automatically are shown separately on the Service.
  3. The Company may change the fee. An increase is announced 30 days before and applies from the next billing cycle.

Article 12 (Buying books and the right to read)

  1. The Company sets book prices and shows them on the scene and book pages.
  2. What a member gets by buying is the right to read the text of that book within the Service, not a file download or a transfer of ownership.
  3. The right to read a purchased book lasts while the membership lasts. Reading may be restricted when the paid membership ends.

Article 13 (Withdrawal and refunds)

  1. Paid membership: a full refund within 7 days of payment if no paid feature, such as reading full text or buying, was used. After that, the amount for the period used is deducted, counted per day.
  2. Books: a full refund within 7 days of payment if the text was not opened. Once reading has started, withdrawal is limited under Article 17(2) of the E-Commerce Act. The Company shows this before reading starts and asks for the member's consent.
  3. When the book cannot be read because of a service failure or the Company's fault, it is refunded whether or not it was read.
  4. Refunds go to the payment method used and are processed within 14 business days. Fees may be deducted depending on the payment method.
  5. Ask for a refund in My account or by email to the operations team.

Chapter 4. Manuscript registration and permission

Article 14 (Eligibility and warranties)

  1. A member who uploads a manuscript warrants that they wrote it or that the copyright holder entrusted them with registering and selling it.
  2. The member warrants that the copyright holder's name and contact details entered with the manuscript are correct and that the copyright holder agreed to giving them to the Company.
  3. Where a manuscript contains other people's personal information or private life, the member obtains the consent needed to publish it.

Article 15 (Responsibility for registration)

  1. The member who uploaded a manuscript that infringes others' rights is responsible for the resulting disputes and losses, and the Company may claim reimbursement from that member when it compensated a third party.
  2. The Company may return a manuscript whose rights cannot be confirmed or which may lead to a dispute, or stop publishing or selling it. It is not obliged to explain the reason in detail.
  3. Real names of people are not used in published titles, introductions, summaries and excerpts. When masking of names is requested, the manuscript is published after masking.

Article 16 (Permission)

  1. Copyright stays with the copyright holder.
  2. The member grants the Company non-exclusive use within this scope: storing and reviewing the manuscript, splitting and classifying scenes, writing and publishing titles, summaries, excerpts and tags, selling and providing reading of the book text within the Service, and using summaries and excerpts to promote the Service.
  3. This permission does not include a transfer of copyright, an exclusive right, resale or sublicensing outside the Service, or adaptation. Such uses are agreed separately with the copyright holder.
  4. This permission lasts while the manuscript is published on the Service. When the member asks to stop publication, the Company stops it within 14 business days. Reading of books already sold and keeping settlement and transaction records continue.
  5. The Company may transfer all or part of the operation of the Service, including the sales and settlement of manuscripts, to a third party, and the permission is transferred with it.

Article 17 (Settlement)

  1. When a book is sold, the Company pays the copyright holder the sales amount minus the payment fee and the platform fee. The split, the settlement cycle and the payment method are set in a separate notice.
  2. Settlement needs the copyright holder's real name, bank account and the information needed to withhold income tax; payment may be held back if they are not provided.
  3. The Company gives members the sales records on which settlement is based.

Chapter 5. Use of content and protection of rights

Article 18 (Scope of use of purchased content)

  1. Purchased books and scenes that were read may be used only for reading the full text within the Service and for non-commercial reference.
  2. Commercial uses such as broadcasting, publishing, film, webtoon or teaching materials, and adaptation, need a separate contract, and the Company brokers the negotiation between the copyright holder and the member. The "fields of use" shown on the Service are only fields in which the copyright holder is willing to negotiate, not a permission.
  3. Members may not copy, capture, distribute or transmit the scenes, summaries, excerpts or text of the Service, or use them as AI training data.
  4. If this article is breached, the Company may restrict use and claim damages, and may give the copyright holder the breaching member's information to the extent needed for the copyright holder to exercise their rights.

Article 19 (The Company's intellectual property)

The rights in works made by the Company, such as the design, trademarks, search and classification system, scene summaries and tags of the Service, belong to the Company.

Article 20 (Reports of infringement and takedown)

  1. A person who claims that their copyright, portrait rights or other rights were infringed may ask the operations team by email to stop publication, with material proving the right.
  2. On such a request the Company stops publishing the manuscript without delay and tells the member who uploaded it. Publication may resume when that member proves a legitimate right.
  3. As an online service provider under Articles 102 and 103 of the Copyright Act, the Company is not liable for the infringement when it followed the procedure above.

Chapter 6. Liability and disputes

Article 21 (The Company's disclaimers)

  1. The Company does not guarantee the content, truthfulness or commercial usability of manuscripts and scenes. Members are responsible for the decisions they make based on manuscripts and their results.
  2. The Company is not obliged to intervene in disputes between members, or between members and copyright holders or third parties, and is not liable for resulting losses.
  3. For services provided free of charge, the Company is not liable unless it acted intentionally or with gross negligence.
  4. The Company is not liable for losses caused by reasons beyond its control, such as natural disasters, war, government action or failures of carriers and external services.

Article 22 (Damages)

  1. When a paid member suffers a loss through the Company's fault, the Company's liability does not exceed the amount the member paid the Company in the last 12 months, unless the Company acted intentionally or with gross negligence.
  2. A member who breaches these terms and causes the Company a loss must compensate it.

Article 23 (Notices)

The Company gives notice by the email address a member registered or by an announcement on the Service. A notice to all members may be replaced by posting it on the Service for at least 7 days.

Article 24 (Governing law and jurisdiction)

These terms follow the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes are first settled by discussion; where a lawsuit is needed, the court with jurisdiction over the Company's head office is the court of first instance. For members who are consumers, the jurisdiction set by the Civil Procedure Act applies.

Addendum

  1. These terms take effect on 2026-11-02.
  2. Manuscripts uploaded under an earlier version keep the permission scope of that version; when the member agrees to the new terms, the new terms apply.
